Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
How does Woodlist work?
Woodlist, Inc. connects buyers and sellers of wood products, flooring,
and surplus building materials. We are a privately funded corporation.
We use the best of both old and new technology... an online web catalog
and people with years of experience in the wood and surplus industry.
From experience, we've learned that this combination works best. We come
across deals that can "go quick", and use internet technology to quickly
publish them for all to see. Once published, our employees make contact
with the prospective buyer and sellers, and complete the transaction.
How do I list my products FOR SALE or WANTED?
Listing Items in our website is FREE. We are brokers, and we add a
commission into the sale price, upon completion of the deal. Please
note: Items submitted for listings on the website are screened before
posting to the marketplace. Not all requests will be posted.
Items for Sale should have a minimum value of $1000, and be "Priced to
Move". We specialize in wood products, building materials, and surplus
items. Woodlist will negotiate a modest commission depending on the
value of the transaction and apply it to completed sales only. Potential
repeat transactions are given a higher priority than one-time
transactions.
Items Wanted Let us help you locate your hard-to-find flooring and
building material needs and good deals.
Click on the "Add A Listing" tab on the "Wanted" or "For Sale" side as
appropriate. Fill out the information fields. Please supply as much
information as you possibly can. Ask yourself "Could I make a buying
decision from this information?" Photographs are very helpful. If you
have digital photographs available, send them along as attachments to an
email to info@woodlist.com.
Are there minimum quantities? Why?
Yes, there are minimum quantities on most items. These are set by the
seller.
On small quantities, the shipping costs will erase any cost savings on
the materials.
Can I get a sample?
Sometimes. If the mill, manufacturer or distributor has supplied us with
samples, we can make them available. On pallet-sized orders, (approx.
900-1,000 square feet) if samples are available, there is a $15.00
shipping and handling fee, refundable against an order for the product.
On truckload and greater quantities, most mills, manufacturers or
distributors will usually have samples available, direct from the mill.
Each has a different policy regarding charging for samples.
Are there guarantees?
Guarantees are offered by the manufacturers, and only when specifically
mentioned in the listing. Woodlist, Inc. is a broker, does not own the
materials bought and sold through us, and does not offer end-user
guarantees. Naturally, in case of dispute between the buyer and seller,
we will attempt to negotiate a resolution.
What about Cancellation of Orders and Refunds:
If a buyer cancels an order due to factors unrelated to Woodlist
(changes in plans, unforeseen circumstances, etc.) Woodlist will issue
refunds prior to delivery, whenever possible. We will deduct a 5%
processing fee, restocking fees, shipping charges and any other direct expenses
from the refund.
If the product is custom manufactured for the buyer, and production has
started, refunds will not be honored.
What about SHIPPING or DELIVERY?
- How are freight rates determined?
The distance between the pickup point and the delivery point, and the
weight of the product determine the shipping cost.
- Is there any sales tax?
Usually not. However, if requested by the manufacturer or distributor,
we will collect sales tax.
- What is FOB?
In most cases, prices are shown FOB (Free On Board, the point from
where the materials will be picked up) from a specific location. If
you cannot pickup the materials yourself, we can get a free freight
quote from a common carrier.
- Do I have to unload it myself?
Yes.
- What is “Residential Delivery”?
Freight is quoted from the pickup point to the local freight terminal.
To get materials from the freight terminal to your location or
construction site, the product is reloaded onto a smaller truck with
a tailgate lift, which lowers the material to the ground.
Note: Not all carriers offer this service. Also, products that are
over 12 feet long or very heavy cannot be carried on tailgate lift
trucks.
Forms of Payment & Taxes
- We accept MasterCard, Visa and
American Express, wire transfers and checks.
- Is there any sales tax?
Usually not. However, if requested by the manufacturer or distributor,
we will collect sales tax.
How do I search for something on the
website?
You can type a reference number (EWSxxxxxx), a species (maple), a
product category (cabinet) or a product type (laminate) in the Search
box at the top right hand side of every page, and see a list of all
items on the site that match your request.
